Sliding Scale
Tickets for our community workshops are offered on a sliding scale system.
What does that mean?
Assessing Resources
Sliding scale is an invitation to reflect on our resources — be they financial, emotional, social, or otherwise — and acknowledge different levels of privilege or lack thereof.
It’s one way we help ensure that financial barriers do not prevent anyone from participating in our workshops.
However, it’s not an opportunity for folks to secure a discounted price on work that we put our love and labor into!
Privilege (Or Lack Thereof)
We invite folks to contribute LESS on the scale if they struggle to meet basic needs and non-negotiable expenses…
Examples : rent, health insurance, groceries, debt payments, childcare costs, etc.
…and have little to no expendable income for things beyond necessary bills.
We invite folks to contribute MORE on the scale if they can meet basic needs (and can do so comfortably) and have some to ample expendable income for leisurely expenses beyond necessary bills, and especially if they have access to inherited wealth.
Examples of leisurely expenses:
dining out at cafes or restaurants
entertainment
recreational travel
a savings account
shopping for non-essential items
Why Sliding Scale?
This payment approach aligns with our commitment to supporting folks in historically marginalized and oppressed communities that would otherwise not have access to our services.
✨ Contributions on the higher end of the sliding scale directly support our ongoing efforts to foster a caring community of practice. ✨
